How do the controls not work as the book says?

Assuming everything's working as it should:
(Perhaps this diagram might help you, click on it to make it bigger):

(Analog stick is "WASD" on a keyboard. Move the camera around with the mouse, or right analog stick).

What system are you playing on?
    Assuming you're on PC:
    Keyboard + Mouse:
"WASD" to move Lara forward, left, back, and right (respectively), as seen by the camera. Use the mouse to move the camera around.
To walk, hold "Shift" (I think it is), at the same time as one of the "WASD" keys.
(For a 'stealth walk', hold "Ctrl" instead of "Shift").
To jump, press the Space bar. Run and jump is pressing the spacebar when pressing one of the "WASD" keys.
Shooting can be done with the mouse (Left Mouse Button = "LMB"; to shoot), or can be done with the 'H' key on the keyboard (I think it is; however this is impracticle to do). Lara can 'draw' her weapons to lock on to an enemy, by pressing 'G'. (This depends on your controls setup whether she will keep the weapons drawn for a time...)

If I wasn't helpful with the controls, this page might help you some more...

Thanks for your reply, but it doesn;t work, she runs everywhere, also I cannot pick up first aid or anything. the Bronze figures aren't where they should be. I have downloaded patches 1 and 2 and really don't know what else to do. Can anyone help.
