    The Cassandra Project Mod

For those wanting something new in Deus Ex, try the Cassandra Project.

And if you haven't done so already, check out Hotel Carone.

I can't find what it is about, after having read to the bottom of the page. What does this mod do/change/tells/(other)?

Both mods add a new set of single player missions.

They are very well done, and at the same time, so very short...

One great thing about this mod is the new weapons. I'll probably play through the danger room a few more times with different combinations ... that won't completely make up for ending before Williams actually starts the first mission, but it will give me something to do for a while.

BTW, the characters do use rather strong language, so keep that in mind before downloading.

    Strong Launguage.. Hmmm

Not too afraid about strong language, as long as it fits the situation rather than (e.g: Paul Denton: I need to see tracer tong JC: bull! ) I call that inapropriate launguage for the rong reasons

I find nothing wrong with pointless profanity!!

I mentioned this only because some may have someone looking over the shoulder who might take issue with the language or who should not hear such language (that is, parents and/or children).

Yep. It's back up. These things go up and down at the whims of the internet gods.

    Question

Catman...I've been wanting to try some DX FM's but one thing has always put me off...getting them installed to play. A long time ago I did get a couple of early Mods that were made and an early version of the Loader...however some were done without Loader use, etc. These are not easy for me to understand. Even the Loader method is almost as confusing since it still took some manual installments I believe (been a long time since I've looked at it). That was one thing that the creator of Thief's Darkloader was perfect for dummies like me...no strain, no pain! Is there an easier way to get them installed now...like Hotel Carone? With the Unreal Eng...mods could be done with the Umod file very easily as it installs itself. Was DX's loader upgraded so that it will do it simply like Thief's Loader now? Appreciate any insights you can relay on these questions. Ta and Good Hunting!

Cassandra, Carone, and Zodiac all install themselves and create a shortcut that starts Deus Ex and loads the mod.

If it was more difficult than that, I wouldn't have been able to figure them out.

    Cool

Thanks Catman I've had an eye on Hotel C for a long time and so I'll give that one a shot first. Do you know where I could check into the Loader for DX to see if there is another version newer than mine? Again been so long since I got it, not sure where it can be found now. One of the FM's I do have was made by someone that knew me from ONP's forum and wanted me to try it as he became aware I was a Thief player and so he got me hooked up to get it. Never installed it because of the confusing way I needed to do it It's on my other machine and can't remember the name right now but I'm sure ppl know about it as it was an early effort. Well anyway, appreciate the reply and hope I can get it soon so I can try it out Ta and Good Hunting!

    Cool

Just thought I'd come back a bit to tell you the Mod I spoke of above was named "ANT-agenda". The reason, as I got reminded earlier today when I went to see about getting Hotel C, was that you had to install the patch for it to work Seems the person who created Hotel C, made a mistake and used the MP code for his mod and so necessitated using the patch! Darn Oh well...some other day maybe. Ta and Good Hunting!

Its just telling you that the mod is not finished yet in a rather clever way that no one understands so they just run around shooting the invisible wall and waste all their ammo and I KILLED MYSELF WHEN I GOT STUCK IN THE WALL!!!LOL.

I've recently gone through this mod, and I've got to say that it's been very well done, or at least what there is of it so far. At the moment, I can't get used to the stricter limitations placed on your inventory, but apart from that it seems pretty cool. I also like the fact that there is some (although not full) voice-acting in this mod, which you don't find a lot of in others, and some modern-day pop culture references as well.

    Two things though:

-The crude language in some places is, IMO, over the top. I seem to remember one piece of dialogue which was somewhere along the lines of "Jesus! C**k f***ing Christ!" I have to ask if that was really necessary?

-What is the deal with those "experimental weapons" locked behind the huge door in the armoury? I mean, I could settle with (I think it was) the Uber Deth Kannon. But the Pimp Gun? Pimp Gun??? Please tell me those are humour weapons which temporarily stand in for more serious replacements for when the full mod is complete?

    Hotel Carone

What's it with Hotel Carone? It stops after the second part, at a church. Where's the rest of it? what's the point?

That's all there is. The point is to run around and have a bit of fun in an alternative storyline in the Deus Ex universe.

They never did come out with a Part 2 for the Cassandra project, did they? It's really a shame. The characters were so well thought out and compelling. I can't believe they went through all that trouble to make beautiful character models, that whole base level, and all that background material only to not make a single actual episode.

It's especially sad when you think how on their website they wanted to experiment with an hour-long episodic format for each installment so that it would be more like a TV show or movie experience than a 10 hour long game. It suggests that after doing so much work after that for whatever reason they couldn't even come up with 1 more hour of gaming material.
