Hmm.. That's a tough one dude.

I'd say Grand Theft Auto IV.. I'm only saying this because it's my favourite video game.. Ever.. And for good reason because there's just so many good things about it regardless of whether anyone says bad things about it.. I've got over 200 hours out of it on both single-player & multiplayer, Watch some gameplay videos & you'll see why I & so many gamers love it so much.

Here, I'll set one up for 'ya for good measure:

Awesome, huh? ... The game is made by Rockstar Games.. Awesome physics, graphics, characters, story, online multiplayer.. Any true gamer would know that they make exceptional & high quality games. They are the best in games development in my opinion.. They are the ones who are making Red Dead Redemption which is just.. amazing & it'll be coming out soon, I recommend you to keep that one on your radar at all times! .. Naughty Dog comes in a very close second though.

I'd still recommend buying Just Cause 2.. just wait until it drops in price

JC2, for me, is all the fun of GTA:SA that was missing from GTA4

But they are too different to compare, even though they are the same "type" of game.

Both, because GTA IV is best in driving but isn't much of an sandbox anymore, JC2 because the sandbox abilities but it sucks at driving.

BTW, give us cheats and a stronger and longer grapple please!!!

I like the promo there Enkeiexpress. So how long have you been working for R*? lol...

But seriously, I also love both games. (I've been with GTA ever since GTA1) I don't really compare them too much either though because this is a sort of a mercenary/spy, unrealistic action shooter, and GTA IV is a realistic and gritty street drama. If GTA IV was like San Andreas, I might be quicker to like one over the other.

As it is though, I think I will play JC2 just as long as I did GTA IV, and enjoy them both for different reasons. I'll be curious to see what the future holds for both franchises.

I agree with you too, BTW, RenegadeDennis. GTA V definitely needs more sandbox elements. I couldn't believe they even took out things that'd been there since "III" like the riot code. That would have been awesome on the new engine!

    lol.. I don't work for R* .. Wish I did though!

They should be paying me for this, I'm like a walking 'n' talking advertisement for 'em to be honest.

i would have to say gta4 because of game play , when i got half way through jc2 the capturing the villages and things like that just got really repetitive and well got boring pretty fast ,but with gta4 i never got that feeling there was always things to do.
On the other hand i choose jc2 for the graphics i got it on pc all maxed and it looks brilliant , also the grapple hook with the parachute is a brilliant hand in hand solution for getting around and a good veryation in different combat techniques.

JC2 and GTAIV, but have to admit GTAIV has been shelved since I started playing JC2, but it's nice to know its there and I can drive vehicals with decent dynamics, unlike JC2 where all the roads appear to have black ice if you do anything over 20mph, in GTAIV I got the handbrake turn down to a fine art, in JC2 just forget it, might as well apply the normal brake while turning.

    ^ this

GTA 4 was way to realistic for me. Both Vice City and SA were good for fooling around gt4 wasn't in my opinion.

There was?, I finished the main story in GTAIV in short order, the side missions were also a bit repetitive imo, the creepy guy you had to take to the ferry port, there was no option to put a bullet through his head or even turn him in to the cops without mission fail, the only thing that was left for me personally was the driving and pi$$ing off the cops, but certainly the driving is a shear pleasure in GTAIV, I would find the longest road and go flat out seeing if I could make from the start to finish without a wreck.

These games are easy AND hard to compare. Both are open world, allow the "taking" of vehicles any time anywhere, but the two are quite different.

GTA - open world gangster simulator/friend "date" simulator

Just Cause 2 - open world "action porn" game

So, OP and anyone else who is asking this same question, you have two choices:

    1. You can get GTA4/Liberty City Episodes and play mostly-fun missions. That is, when you're not taking your friends/girlfriend out bowling, playing pool, for dinner, for a chopper ride, for a boat ride, etc... Those things are all well and good in real life, but in an action game where you can backflip a motorbike and land on a police officer in slow motion, those things do not fit.

    2. You can get Just Cause 2 and play always fun missions and destroy everything you come across. I thought it would get boring, just going around blowing stuff up all the time, but it doesn't. It's a blast, non stop. You never know what's gonna happen. And, best of all, you don't have to drive over to someone's house in the game, pick someone up, take them out somewhere, watch as they get stuck on something and glitch out a bit, try and get them in your car without them getting stuck on anything, drive them home and listen to all the horrible dialog. Etc... etc... etc...........

And that's all I got to say about that!

Maybe they'll add in hunger elements, so you have to eat breakfast, lunch and such. And have to use the toilets before you get dirty pants, your friends wouldn't like when you stink, and you have to take a shower and get some clean clothes.

I was going to say - someday, they will make a game like that... then I realized - it's called The Sims. lol...

I just want my riot code - not stinky clothes and friends that hate me because I don't go bowling with them. lol...

    Honestly, my fav. is GTA4

But only because of Episodes of Libertycity.

If it wasn't for the extras like the biker and clubbing content i would be playing JC2 alot more, instead of having to switch out discs back in forth. I got rid of GTA4 Vanilla(original game)and play only EFLC, cause it's the funnest outta the two. Get rid of those whiney friends and *y girlfriends of nikos and replace them with more gangsters and noose officers trying to kill me lol.
It puts the cheats in the justcause2 else it gets the shampoo in the eyes again.

tbh I'm gana have to say GTA4 b/c just recently the new dlc came out for it and that thing is a blast with ur friends i love to go online and just hang out with my friends and do some awesome police chases..... but ill have to admit if JC2 had multi-player than i wouldn't of even went back to GTA4 o and one other thing is JC2 doesn't have any cheats and to me..... a sandbox game without cheats.... isn't any were near as fun as one with cheats.... so imo GTA4 is waaaaaaaaaay better than JC2 and tbh i dont think im gana be going back to JC2 any time soon untill they get some cheats for PS3

    a sandbox game without cheats

Indeed, a sandbox game without cheats is like a linear game without a story.

WTF ALL Openworld/sandbox games should have cheats! This is just being lazy!! Or greedy, both.. we'll probaly have to pay for em later HAH!

JC2 for me, because there's just so much to do. The reason GTA IV didn't get repetitive was because it was too damn short, and there was (by comparison to earlier games in the series) barely anything to do after the story concluded.

For me, Vice City is still by far the best GTA game yet made. San Andreas was abysmal, and while IV was a step back in the right direction, it lost a lot of the fun of earlier games, and just didn't offer enough to do outside of the story. I had about 30 hours of gameplay out of GTA IV before I ran out of things to do and got bored. I'm on 96 hours of JC2, and not only do I still have loads to do, I'm still enjoying every minute.

I sold GTA IV even before the Trophy patch was released, and I've no plans to re-buy it now that the DLC has finally been released on PS3.
